WOW. What a week it has been and it’s not even Friday yet. Today I’m going to talk about distractions. These are the things that distract or pull us away from our goals and dreams. You all know what I’m talking about. What distractions do you have that you are allowing to take over the pursuit of your dream? There’s always something that’s going on in our lives and then there are those things that happen that we don’t have control over. It’s how you deal with your distractions that will determine whether or not you reach your dream.
Distractions can be anything. It can be watching too much TV, hanging out with your friends all the time, playing video games, even spending numerous hours on the internet and Facebook. I know people that spend hours in Facebook. It can also be a serious situation that you may have to devote time to deal with. However, it shouldn’t fully take over your life. In those things that you can control, you need to be willing to give up something to make room for your dream. What is it going to be?
Let me share with you my distraction. My storage unit was broken into. Yes, things were taken. When I got the phone call of this happening, I immediately dropped everything. My focus changed to making sure I report it to the police, going through everything to determine what exactly was taken and the value of it as I have to file an insurance claim. This was my sole focus for the last few days and was not able to post anything to you. Was I distracted? Absolutely. Should I have let it take over everything? NO. I’ve learned that even though this did happen, and it was a bad thing, it shouldn’t have taken me off track from my own dream.
What are your distractions? I hope yours are not overwhelming your life!! Things are always going to happen. It’s a fact of life. It may not happen on the same scale as mine. However, you need to learn how to balance everything. Don’t stop pursuing your dream because something has happened. Keep on pushing though. Do not let the distractions of life come in and take control. It will only drive you crazy and push you back even farther behind.
Blessings…..
