It was 2010 when I decided to officially start my coaching business. I’ve had previous experience of having businesses and though I learned many things from them, they all failed. This time was something new. Something more up my alley. My excitement for this new chapter in my life was scary and overwhelming. There were so many things that I needed to do and not enough hours in the day for me to complete everything. Where do I start? What have I gotten myself into? That’s when I realized that I was going to need to take a leap of faith.
To live, to TRULY live, we must be willing to RISK. To be nothing in order to find everything. To leap before we look. ~ Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass
Not sure what taking a leap of faith means? It means to take a chance on something. It also means to go for it. The Bible states in Hebrews 11:1 that “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” (NLT). To take a leap of faith is doing something and not knowing what the outcome is going to be. Jumping into my business venture took a serious leap of faith as I had no idea if my business would succeed or fail. Of course, I wanted my business to succeed and I still do. But today, I feel like a failure. In spite of feeling this way, I chose to take that leap of faith and I choose to keep moving forward.
Sometimes taking a leap faith requires an imaginative mind that can create the ending you are unable to see.”
~ Shannon L. Alder
It is indeed time for you to go for it. What do you have to lose? We all need to feed our fear with Faith. We may not know where our dream will take us. The destination isn’t always important. What’s important is the journey towards our goals and dreams. I read a quote today that puts a lot of this into perspective: Faith. It does not make things easy, it makes them possible.
Our dreams are in fact possible. We all have everything we need inside of us to make it happen. Just have to take a leap of faith. I’m not exactly where I want to be yet. This is still a work in progress. Every business is always a work in progress. There has been a lot of tears, stress, and joy along the way. It’s my time and I’m determined to get there. What about you? What is it that you need to take a leap of faith for? Your dream. Whatever your dream is, you too will need to take a leap of faith. You can do this. I believe in you.
Taking a leap of faith is better than taking a leap of doubt. ~ Matshona Dhliwayo
Yes, the doubts are real. They’re always present in our minds. They tell us that we can’t do “it” for whatever reason; not enough money, experience, time, etc. The list goes on and on. As a result, we surrender to our doubts. It’s for this reason together with fear is why we don’t do anything. If we want to live the life of our dreams, we have to take a leap of faith and keep moving forwards that life. It’s not going to come to us. We have go for it. This where faith comes in.
Life is a gamble. There are no sureties. If you want something badly, you’d have to trust your heart and your instincts and then take a leap of faith. ~ Alyssa Urbano, The Billion-Dollar Marriage Contract
Now, it’s your turn. It’s time to make a choice; stay where you are and keep dreaming for what you want or you can take a leap of faith today and get to work on the life of your dreams. So, what is it going to be? Think about what it is you really want in your life. Of course, it won’t be easy. Usually the best things aren’t. But, it can be worth it.
