I knew this day would come. These were the words I used when I wrote my daughter her letter as she was heading off to college. No longer would she be around for me to see her smiling face everyday. Â This was an exciting new chapter in her life and I want her to fly. Now what? This was the question I asked myself.
Nothing really prepares you for this day  Sure, people can give you advice and encouragement, but it’s you that’s got to deal with it all.  Or in this case, me.  During the course of this situation, I kept finding myself stressing out about what would I do once my daughter left for school.  There were many options.  The days kept getting closer and closer.  It’s finally happened.  Now what?
Now my answer to this question is, ANYTHING I WANT.
As this day quickly approached, I was asked often, “Now what?” Â Now that your daughter is officially off to college, what is it you’re going to do? Initially, for a while my answer was, “I don’t know yet. Â I’m sure I’ll come up with something.” Â Now my answer to this question is, ANYTHING I WANT. Â It’s sounds simple, but so far, it isn’t. Â There are so many things that I want to do, but I feel overwhelmed as to where to start. Nonetheless, I’m taking my time, but not too much time. Just enough so I can figure it all out.
It’s official. I’m an Empty Nester. Now what? I CAN BE AND DO ANYTHING I WANT.
I CAN BE AND DO ANYTHING I WANT.
Sounds empowering. Feels liberating. An exciting time in my life. Â I can BE and DO ANYTHING I WANT TO DO. Â My life isn’t over just because my daughter went away to school. Â Matter of fact, it’s just beginning. Â Yes, it seem overwhelming and sometimes life happens that way. Â You have two choices; do nothing or find what it is that excites you and move toward living the life of your dreams. Â I choose the latter.
This is a transition time in my life. Â I no longer have a child at home to care for every day. Â I will miss that tremendously. Â As I get used to that fact of my life, I must keep moving forward pursuing my own goals and dreams. Â It’s my time and I too deserve happiness so I can live the life of my dreams. So, let’s get this party started!!
I plan to keep you updated as to my transitional journey. I predict that some days may be better than others. That’s life. Â My goal is that this helps someone else going through a transition. Â Please know that you are not alone. Â This community is for all women, to help you grow into who you are meant to be. Â To live life with purpose and ON purpose.
Are you an empty nester? Â I would love to hear your story and I would like to know what was your “it” that kept you moving forward? Please leave me a comment.
