Today is a great day to be a woman!! March 8th is International Women’s Day 2014. Yes, we have our own day! The United States has designated the month of March as Women’s History month. This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is Inspiring Change.
International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900’s. Thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women, and to also celebrate the achievements of women.
There are so many women who have inspired me to grow and to pursue my goals and dreams. If you feel your dream is impossible, look at these women and ask yourself if their dream seemed impossible.
- Harriet Tubman was the founder and “conductor” of the Underground Railroad. She inspired many blacks to escape the brutalities of the south and move north.
- Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo, nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean. She was told she couldn’t do it, but she did. She believed in herself enough to accomplish it.
- Coco Chanel – One of the most inventive fashion designers of the 20th Century and was instrumental in defining feminine style and dress. She took traditional male clothing and redesigned them for women.
These women are just a few that were inspired enough to make a change in the world. I’m sure they believed their dreams to be impossible at first. However, all that changed when they took the first step into who they wanted to become.
Which woman inspires you to be more than what you are? Your mother? Your sister? Maybe your teacher or professor? Let this day be the day you start to take action if you haven’t already.
So again I ask; who is it that inspires you to be all that you can be? Still trying to figure it out? It’s okay. I know where you are as I’ve been there too. If you’re ready to turn your impossible dream into reality, contact me today for your FREE 20 minute Breakthrough Coaching session.
