I’m sitting here tonight wondering how to really write this post. I was asked by a client how to push through to success. You see, my client has been struggling trying to reach her dream. At times, her thoughts of her not being good enough come in to play. She’s not the only one that is experiencing this; hence the reason why I write this post.
First and foremost, let me tell you that you are indeed good enough to pursue whatever it is that you want to pursue. The feeling of not being good enough is in your mindset along with the other limited beliefs that you may have. It’s time to shift your negative thoughts into positive ones. For some of you, this may be easy. However, for others it could be a lot harder.
I used to be this way. I used to let my limited beliefs overtake and control my mind. It was so easy to listen to them rather than the positive ones. There are times I still struggle with this, but for the most part, I have conquered my limited beliefs. Here are a few strategies that I used to get started. What I have discovered is that the same plan doesn’t always work for everybody. If there is one of my strategies that can work for you; that is GREAT. All it takes is taking that first step.
1. Journaling. I can’t stress this enough. Write it all down on paper. You don’t need a fancy notebook to do this. A regular notebook will work just fine. Understand, once I write them down, I don’t necessarily go back and read all of them. However, it is nice to see how far I’ve come along. I started journaling years ago. It was one of the easiest things to do. I would sit for an hour or longer just writing everything I had inside of me. I would write about the negative thoughts that were in my head about myself to what I did in the day. Whatever was inside of me, I wrote about it. When you write, don’t edit. Just write to get it out of your system. Journaling is a way of releasing things. For me, once I wrote it all down, I felt so much better. I was no longer carrying that stuff with me. Also, you’re going to need to do this often. Writing one time won’t be enough.
2. Reading powerful books. Do you like to read? If so, find a book that is positive. Is there someone that inspires you? Check to see if they have a biography. Read how they overcame their obstacles to achieve success. You never know; you may find yourself in someone else’s story.
3. Read positive quotes. Don’t want to read a long book? Find positive quotes that you can start ingraining in your mind. Pinterest.com, Goodreads.com, and Brainyquote.com are good places to start. Find quotes that you like and write them in your journal. Read them often.
Battling your beliefs can be a challenge at first, but you can overcome it. Remember that you are good enough to do anything you set out to do. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Nobody is the expert on all things you. I believe in you. Now it’s time to believe in yourself.
