Welcome to the final part of Confessions of an Imperfect Entrepreneur.

confessions of an imperfect entrepreneur

Today as I write this, I feel lost. I feel like I have lost my spark, my joy, my passion. Feeling frustrated with where I am accepting that this is a part of my process and I’m honoring where I am.  I’m not sure what this means or not.  I want to say that this is normal. Questioning if what you’re doing is the right thing.  I believe that will come with trial and error. However, if there is no passion behind it, I would say you’re not doing what you should be doing.   For me, I’m back at the bottom again making my way back up.  I feel like I failed again. Until….

Failure is there to point us in a different direction. We need to figure out what is the next right move. ~ Oprah Winfrey

Yesterday, I saw a video of Oprah talking about stillness and what it is calling us to do. The excerpt of the video came from her student-led interview at Stanford Graduate School of Business. It’s fantastic. This is a must see. In this video, she stated that “Failure is there to point us in a different direction. We need to figure out what is the next right move.”  I’ve failed so many times in life and in business and it’s bought me to this point.  The failures in my life have pointed me in a different directions.  That was really interesting in how she defined failure. My mind shifted and I no longer view failure as a bad thing.  As far as what is the next right move for me, I honestly don’t know that yet.  That will take me a little time to define.  I do need to get clarity on what I want to do. I pray that my journey helps someone else.

Know that building a business is not always going to be a basket of sunshine.  That’s an unrealistic thing.   There will be great times and you feel like everything is wonderful and running smoothly.  On the flip side, there will be dark times too; times when you want to walk away and don’t look back.  That’s where I’m at now.  I feel so frustrated with things that I just want to scream.  Please know that you can learn how to deal with the tough times when you feel that you’ve lost your spark or your voice.  I believed for the last few weeks that I lost my voice.  To my surprise, I have not.  The spark, however, is trying to reignite. I just need to be patient with myself and the process.

You have to find what sparks a light in you so that you in your own way can illuminate the world. ~ Oprah Winfrey

What is your spark? What is that thing that makes you light up?  Find your spark. Find out how you can illuminate the world with your gift.  I’m slowly working through it even though I feel like I’m doing it alone.

We all have a gift. We all have a purpose in our lives.  What is yours?  Our goal in life is to find out what that is and go out and do something positive with it. As I’m on the path of re-self-discovery again, there’s a reason why I’m here in this place, at this time. I can admit that I’m not so happy about being back here, but there is something that I must learn again or I haven’t learned yet. This goes back to honoring where you are.  Honor yourself in the process. As we continue to grow, we’re always in a state of process. That could be my key lesson. I don’t know.  As I continue my journey as an imperfect entrepreneur, I will continue to learn, continue to make mistakes, and most importantly,  continue to grow.  I’m grateful to have shared this journey with you. It wasn’t easy for me to write, but like I said, if this helps one person,  I’m happy.  ☺

Until next time…
